Holiday in Kittsee

Kittsee is situated between three countries: Austria, Hungary and Slovakia and is one of the 171 political independent
municipalities of the Austrian province Burgenland. Kittsee belong to the district
Neusiedl am See and is situated immediately at the Austrian-Slovakian border.
Only 8 kilometres are to the neighbouring Bratislava. At a total area of circa
1900 hectare is this municipality the home of nearly 2000 inhabitants. |

Especially through it’s extensive
apricot culture is Kittsee famous in Austria. Because of the favourable climate, the
optimal agricultural conditions grow this fruits magnificent, and are much in demand
by distillers of whole Austria. But in this region is also done winegrowing. On a gravel,
clay or sand ground grow especially white vines. Kittsee has something to offer for
gourmets and culinary bon vivant of specialities of Burgenland. |

A special feature of Kittsee is certainly the
baroque castle Kittsee. With its breathtaking park ant the ethnological museum is it a
important cultural asset and belong to the most famous sights of North Burgenland. But
Kittsee is also, because of it’s geographical position, a excellent starting point for day trips
in the neighbouring countries Hungary and Slovakia. |
